The brand name Rolls-Royce was derived after the founders Charles Rolls and Henry Royce. The hyphen used in between the two names marks its importance in showing the friendly association between founders.

Charles Rolls became a motor dealer in the year 1902, and also joined his hands with Sir Fredrick Henry Royce, and both founded Rolls-Royce Ltd.

Sir Frederick Henry Royce was an engineer and car manufacturer. He also became a tester with the London Electric Light and Power Company.
