The first logo of Sony was a monochrome circular badge with an abstract geometric figure drawn in black and placed on a white background Created in the year 1946 and lasted for ten years. The company was founded by Masaru Ibuka and Akio Morita. Mr. Ibuka was running his shop in Tokyo where he used to repair Radio, where he met Mr. Morita. They both thought to start a business together, and took a loan and started Tokyo Telecommunication Engineering Corporation (Japanese name - TOKYO TSUSHIN KOGYO). They brought their first product, which was Rice Cooker, but it did achieve the height of success and failed, which brought both the founders face loss in this.
They later thought to start something new and made a Tape Recorder with the use of a Transistor. This product was new for the Japanese people, so they did not understand its proper use, and ultimately this product flopped. They both sold some Taperecorders for free amongst the people and explained its features and benefits. After this, the company got many orders from corporate companies and media houses. The company became very famous, but the Japanese name was difficult to give in other countries, so they changed the name to -SONY.
The name was derived from the concept of two words - Sound and Sonny (Young boys were called as sonny, during that period, which was suitable with the young partners Mr. Ibuka and Mr. Morita). After this, the company launched its first Transistor Radio in 1955. The company started making products as per the needs of the people. It launched many products, such as Television, smartphones, laptops, playstations, video recorders, sound systems, and many more.
Despite facing many macroeconomic risks and high challenges and competition in the market, Sony Corporation has developed itself and reached a great height of success.
